Goodbye Baseball...

Almost.

Well, both boys' teams are out of their end of season tournaments. Maddox's team ended up 2nd in their division....which was an awesome finish from where they started. 

Maddox had an awesome game the other night...got a triple and the game winning hit...

Daddy was pretty proud.

 

So All Stars. Chad was asked to coach but turned it down. You see, the manager's kid is automatically on the team. We, first, didn't think that would be fair, and two, we were kinda ready to move on to just swimming. Then the man who is coaching called....Maddox was voted on! So much for moving on to just swimming! Maddox is thrilled, and we are happy for him. We don't know if he was voted on by his peers or the coaches, but either way it's a great honor. So I guess Chad might be helping with the team after all.

 

And this little girl is going to have to spend a little more time at the ballpark...tu tu and all.

Happy Birthday, Melissa!

I was going through my files looking for a layout to share and this one caught my eye. And today is Melissa's birthday, so perfect!

This layout is from my March 2011 Products You Love Every Which Way Class...all about buttons. For this layout I strung buttons onto jute...white with 2 red. To keep it securly attached to the page I stapled it at each end. The 'Chinese sign' is from the Silhouette shop.

Summer swim team is underway!

This past Saturday we had our team time trials. We had to skip out early because of baseball games but both boys made improvements over last year. Can't wait to see how fast they get! 

It's getting tough overlapping baseball and swimming. But win or lose this should be the last week of baseball. We're about ready to be a one sport family for a couple months. 

Speaking of swimming, yesterday Grayson remembered how!:) She's not ready for swim team (although she can swim better than some on the team.) I would feel better if she could make it the full length on her own before we give it a try. Until then, she'll just cheer...

Crew Again...

I have to brag on my Crew Crew again. He had an amazing game last night...to give you a 'quick' run down....They play with a time limit. 5 runs max each inning. We were Visitors.

Our first at bat we didn't score any runs...which basically puts us in the hole 5 runs. Every other inning we score our max. Third inning, Crew is playing 3rd and makes all 3 outs, 2 unassisted. We hold them to just 3 runs that inning. The fourth inning we both score 5. Their 5th run crosses the plate with 3 seconds on the clock. They think game over, they won score 23 to 20.

Playoffs, we play by the rules...umpire asks Chad game over or play?...of course Chad says PLAY. The other team is lined up, celebrating....they weren't happy to take the field again. We bat, score all 5 runs. Now we have to hold them.....Crew is playing pitcher. First batter line drive to Crew & he catches it. They get a couple on base, we get an out at 3rd. Still haven't scored. Next batter, line drive to Crew's right...reaches across his body,  almost in a dive and makes the catch. Freaking unbelievable!  We win, 25-23! That game makes the season!

We haven't won many this season...and that's been okay because they've had so much fun. But, I knew Crew wasn't ready for the season to be over. And we all know how much it stinks to go 2&Q. I'm usually pretty calm for their games, but last night was so exciting....made me remember how fun baseball can be. So our season lives on until Saturday...(of course we have a swim meet and 2 elimination baseball games). 

It smells like Summer!

It's starting to feel like summer around here! Highs in the 90's...eek. While enjoying a bit of air conditioning you can make summer smell however you like!

Love and stuff....

Our Crew Crew...

I can't believe that Crew is finishing up Kindergarten. He is doing so so good at school. I am completely amazed at his reading ability. He quickly sounds out big words...and smoothly reads words that look too big for him to know. 

Last month his grade had a special little program. I didn't know until the night before that Crew had a speaking part...and that was just because Maddox happened to walk through and see them practicing.  He read a paper he'd written about what he learned in Kindergarten. I was so impressed that he could get up and talk in front of 1000+ people.

 

From Crew's field trip to a farm...the lighting in the haybarn was so nice.

And he slays us with his love for baseball. We never have to say, 'pay attention or hustle' to him. He's ready to make the play always. And he knows WHERE to make the play.

 

He's started swim team again this summer. It's so funny to watch. That kid has his daddy's flat feet, that's for sure! He loves it though and of course tries so hard.

Most of all, he is a loving big brother (most of the time). He's always looking out for her...I can't wait to see how their relationship evolves over time. Well, I can wait, but you know what I mean.

We love our Crew Crew...even if he doesn't want us to call him Crew Crew anymore...and he doesn't think Crew is a cool name. Crazy kid.

and it's monday

Hope you had a great weekend!  We were busy with baseball, then dinner with friends...and lots of kids...then a little splashpad fun, followed by a lazy night of movie watching and popcorn. Oh and a run that felt like my legs weighed 1000 pounds. Joy. I did make it up to our pool for my first swim of the season. I really forgot how much more I love swimming than running.:) Going to try to keep a mixture of the two until it gets too hot to run. My shoulders are so sore from my swim though, a good sore. 

 

As I mentioned before Saturday was National Scrapbooking Day. I didn't get much scrapbooking done this weekend....but I did post a bonus layout for my Sassy Scrapping Friends. Here's a little peek....

What do you have planned for National Scrapbooking Day?  Me...I'll be at the ballpark.
